If you are suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED) chances are that you may have been experiencing the main symptom, failure to achieve and hold an erection during a sexual performance for quite a while now. ED can last from a few weeks to a few months and during that time, the average man’s confidence in his sexuality can take a serious hit.
But don’t worry your erectile dysfunction can be cured! Conventional treatments for ED include prescription medication, implants, surgery and even vacuum pumps. But there are also a lot of natural options that you can try if none of the medical interventions work for you. They include the following;
1. Panax Ginseng
There has been solid research linking red Ginseng to the successful treatment of ED. Dosages can range from 600 to 1000 milligrams taken three times a day. Recent research has however pointed towards Panax Ginseng extract that acts at the cellular level to help improve the quality of an erection. It is no wonder Ginseng has been called the herbal Viagra.
2. Rhodiola Rosea
In a recent study, 26 of 36 men with ED were given Rhodiola a day for three months. These 26 men experienced significant improvement in sexual function. This herb has also been useful in improving energy levels and alleviating fatigue. More studies are however necessary before this herb can be approved for use by ED patients.
L-arginine is an amino acid that occurs naturally in our bodies. Its primary function is in the production of Nitric Oxide, which relaxes the blood vessels which can facilitate a stronger erection. Patients with ED who tool 5 milligrams of L-arginine a day showed significant improvement in sexual function. When the same patients took L-arginine in combination with Pycnogenol, a plant product from a tree bark, they experienced an 80% reduction in symptoms.
You may have heard of it but most people don’t really think of acupuncture as a treatment option for ED. Yet, a study in 1999 proved that acupuncture can produce considerable positive results in patients with ED. In fact, ED patients who underwent acupuncture significantly improved the quality of erections and even restored sexual activity over time.
The risks of acupuncture can be significantly reduced when you use the services of a licensed acupuncturist. Further studies are required, but the role of acupuncture in the treatment of erectile dysfunction is one that can’t be overlooked.
This is a supplement that can be extracted from the bark of the Yohimbe tree found in Africa. When patients with ED were treated with this supplement, they showed significant improvement in sexual performance.
It is, however, worth noting that the American Urological Associated doesn’t reckon using Yohimbe for the treatment of ED. This is due to a lack of considerable evidence that it actually works and there is a little evidence that carries significant health risk including increased blood pressure, irritability and increased heart rate among others.
