Keto diet is not new. It started in 1921 and it was discovered by Robin Woodyatt, an endocrinologist. He discovered it when the three ketone bodies known as Accenture, B-hydroxybutyrate, and acetoacetate were produced by the liver secondary to starvation. The same thing happened when a person follows a diet that is high in fat and low in carbohydrates.

However, the term ketogenic diet was coined by Russel Wilder, a man from the Mayo Clinic. It was not actually used for weight loss. It was originally used in treating young patients suffering from epilepsy. The advancement in medicine has finally paved a way to use ketogenic as a diet. Today, it is one of the most popular diet regimens that even celebrities from Hollywood are into it. Word of advice, the ketogenic diet is helpful in shedding off excess fat provided it does not contradict an existing health condition. To be safe, you should first consult your doctor.
